Binge-Worthy Limited Series
The best argument for a limited series is that someone decided in advance where it ends. No filler season, no cliffhanger that never resolves because the show got cancelled — just a complete story told at the length it needed.
Everything below is finishable in a weekend or two, and everything below actually finishes. That's a genuinely short list once you exclude shows that were sold as limited and then renewed.
One caveat worth stating plainly: Severance and Dark both continued past what looked like a self-contained first run. They're here because each season resolves its own arc, but if you want something with a definitive full stop, Chernobyl, The Queen's Gambit and Fleabag are the true one-and-dones.
Severance
Series · 2022Each season closes its own loop, but the larger story continues — go in knowing you're starting something ongoing rather than finishing something.
Where to stream →Dark
Series · 2017Three seasons and a genuinely complete ending, which almost no time-travel story manages. The most satisfying full stop here, if you can keep up.
Where to stream →The Queen's Gambit
Series · 2020Seven episodes, one arc, done. The most bingeable thing on this list — most people finish it in two sittings and don't regret either.
Where to stream →Chernobyl
Series · 2019Five episodes, no wasted minute, and a definitive ending because history supplied one. Harrowing rather than moreish; you may want a night between episodes.
Where to stream →Fleabag
Series · 2016Two short seasons that end exactly where they should. The second is among the best television ever made, and it's about six hours total.
